Verwen weekend/A weekend full of treats

Hallo allemaal/Hello every one,

Ik heb een heerlijk verwen weekend gehad.
Zaterdag ochtend er eerst op tijd uit want Hillie had een gym wedstrijd.
Daarna kwam mijn schoonzusje op visite(tante Linda).
Maar ze moest nog even weg en nam Hillie mee, toen kwamen ze terug met dit ontzettend mooie bos tulpen.
Zijn ze niet prachtig??
Tante Linda bedankt hoor!!!

I had a really nice weekend with treats of myself but also a treat of someone else.
Saterday morning we had to get up on time because Hillie had a gymnastic game.
After that my sister in law(Linda) came for a visit.
But she has to go somewhere else first and took Hillie along, when they came back they brought me this nice tulips.
Aren't they beautiful??

Zondagmorgen 9.30u stond ik op en het enigste wat ik graag wilde, was wat tijd voor me zelf.
De hele week draait boodschappen doen, koken, school, werk, sport en het huishouden, jullie weten het zelf wel.
Vandaag wilde ik echt iets voor mezelf doen en ik belde mijn vriendin Titia.
Zij wilde ook wel eventjes weg en we gingen naar Sneek.
Een high tea is wat we hebben gehad, want we lusten allebei geen koffie.
We hebben een geweldige middag gehad, het eten was lekker(zie foto)we konden geen boe of bah meer zeggen.
Maar het belangrijkste was toch wel dat het erg ontspannend was.
Voor de komende 3 maanden zijn we volledig opgeladen;-)) daarna gaan we een high tea doen in Groningen bij een thee museum!!
Ze serveren daar een echte engelse high tea met echte scones(door een engelse mevrouw gemaakt).
Maar dat zullen jullie over een paar maand wel zien.

It is Sunday morning 9.30am when I get up and the only thing I want, was to something for myself.
The whole week you do nothing then "running" like to do grocery's, cooking, school, work, sport and keep the house clean, you know the drill.
Today I want to do something for myself and I'm calling my friend Titia.
She wanted to go too and we went off to Sneek.
A high tea is what we had, because we both don't like coffee.
We had a great afternoon, the food was good(see the pic) and we were so full of everything.
But the most important thing was that it was very relaxing.
We both have loaded up for the next 3 months;-)) after that we do another high tea in Groningen at a tea museum!!
They serving a real English high tea there, with real scones(a english lady is making them).
Well that you will see in a couple of months!!

Een doe-weekend/ A "busy" week

Hoi allemaal,

Dit weekend hebben we veel gedaan.

Ik heb cinnemon buns gemaakt naar een recept uit mijn Canadese kookboek en Hillie en ik hebben geknutseld aan een cadeau voor haar juf.

Nou wat betreft die cinnemon buns, die ware niet geslaagd.

Wel hoe ze er uit zagen hoor maar de smaak was niet goed.

Ik miste het zout.

Wat heb ik toch verkeerd gedaan?

Als ik bij de familie in Canada ben proeft alles echt heerlijk, dus het moet aan mijn kookkunsten liggen!!!

Na wat gediscuseerd te hebben met Jelle hoe dit toch kon, zijn we er toch achter, tenminste dat denk ik.

In Canadese boter zit veel meer zout dan het onze vandaar dat ik het zout ook miste.

Dus als ik weer een recept maak met boter moet er toch wat zout bij in.

De foto's wilde ik jullie wel laten zien.

Ook ben ik met Hillie aan het knutselen geweest.

Hillie haar juf is vandaag jarig en dan nemen de kinderen meestal een cadeautje mee.

Dit is ook haar laatste week op school want ze gaat met zwangerschap verlof en komt dan pas na de zomer vakantie terug.

Hillie had al helemaal bedacht wat voor cadeautjes ze wilde kopen.

Ik heb maar gezegd dat ze +/-€ 7,50 mocht uitgeven.

We hebben samen een mooi doosje gemaakt waar de baby spulletjes in konden.

Hillie heeft een kleurplaat opgezocht waar we het mee konden decoreren.

Samen nog wat bedacht om het nog mooier te versieren en het resultaat mocht er zijn.

Gistermiddag de stad in geweest om wat spulletjes te kopen.

We kregen nog korting en hierdoor bleef Hillie mooi op het bedrag wat ze mocht uitgeven.

Vandaag ging het mee naar juf en die vond het erg mooi.

Vandaag ook nog een mooie foto van een pimpelmees gemaakt die aan een vetbolletje zat te peuzelen, dit leverde een mooie foto op.

Hello everybody,

We did a lot this weekend.

I made cinnemon buns, a recipe from the Cuzzie for life cooking book and me and Hillie made a nice gift for Hillie's teacher.

About the cinnemon buns, they were not good.

They looked good but they didn't tast well.

I was missing the salt.

What did I do wrong?

If I am at my Canadian family everything tast so good, so I did something wrong!!!

After a discussion with Jelle how it was possible, I think we know what went wrong.

In Canadian butter is much more salt then the Dutch butter, so that's why I missed the salt.

If I make another Candian recipe with butter I need to put salt in it.

Me and Hillie made something for her teacher who has her B-day today and most times the kids take a present with them.

Also this is the last week that she is on school, she is pregnant and the baby will come in a couple of weeks, after summerbreak she will come back.

Hillie did allready some thinking what she wants to give her teacher, I tolled her the max. was +/- € 7,50.

Together we made a nice box for the babystuff.

Hillie find a nice picture to colour so we can decorate the box with it.

Together we think how to make the box more beautiful and the result was realy nice.

Yesterday we went shopping.

She had a good deal on the price and that's why she could stay around the amound what she could spent.

Today she took it to her teatcher and she loved it.

Afscheid afdeling de Pôllen

Hallo allemaal,

Gisteravond had ik mijn afscheid, samen met nog 2 collega's, van mijn vorige afdeling.
Gezellig, met zo'n 13 collega's, borrelen bij de Walrus in Sneek.
We hebben ontzettend veel gelachen.
Natuurlijk waren er ook heerlijke hapjes.
De vraag die herhaaldelijk werd gesteld was of ik het naar mijn zin had op de nieuwe afdeling?
Heel erg, ik zou ook niet terug willen en dat heeft niets te maken met de collega's of bewoners.
Na 16 jaar ben je denk ik gewoon toe aan iets nieuws.
Over de post had ik al een paar kaarten gekregen en gister nog 1 met lekkere paaseitjes.
Van de afdeling kreeg ik een mooie olie brander en die zal ik dan ook een mooi plaatsje geven in ons huis.
Collega's bedankt voor een gezellige avond en het leuke cadeau!!!

Hello everybody,

Yesterday evening I had my goodbye party of my "old" unit.
With about 13 people and lots of laughs in the "Walrus" in Sneek.
Ofcourse we had delicious treats.
The question: Do you like it at you new unit?
Yes very much, I wouldn't go back.
That has nothing to do with the people who work or live there.
After 16 years you just need some new challenge, I guess.
In the mail I've got some cards and yesterday evening another one with lovely chocolat easter eggs.
My gift from the unit was a nice oil burner and I'm going to find a real nice place in our house.
Thank you guy's voor the nice evening and the beautiful gift!!!

Hallo allemaal,

Vanmorgen met Hilie naar de KNO arts geweest.

Er is niks aan de hand op dit gebied.

Ook heeft hij de bloed uitslagen bekeken en hij zei dat er ergens een virale ontsteking zit of heeft gezeten.

Hier kun je weinig aan doen en het duurt errug lang!!!

Lekker haar gang laten gaan en is ze een keer ergens te moe voor dan lekker thuis houden
We gaan over 2 weken wel het bloed laten onderzoeken, dan kun je ook zien of het slechter of juist beter wordt.

Ik heb ook een aantal babykaartjes gemaakt voor 2 collega's en die van mijn neef ga ik zo doen, ik heb in geen jaren gescrapt(resultaat: zie onder).

Ok, dat is niet helemaal waar, in Canada heb ik samen met mijn nicht Lynn aan een gastenboek gewerkt voor de trouwerij van haar zus en mijn nicht Judy(en haar hubby).

Het resultaat is goed gelukt ook al komt het idee niet helmaal van mij zelf.

Het voorbeeld komt uit "Scrapcards 1" maar als je eenmaal bezig bent komt de inspiratie vanzelf en dan is het eind resultaat ook heel anders dan het eind produkt.

Ik vind ze erg mooi geworden en ik hoop hun ook.

Hello everybody,

This morning we went to the Throat, Nose and Ear doctor in the hospital.

There is nothing wrong with the TNE area from Hillie.

He also saw the blood results and he tell me that there is or was somewhere in her body a virale infection.

There is not much you can do about it and it takes forever to get over it.

Let her do her things and is she so tired just keep her home.

In a bout 2 weeks we do the blood test again, then you can see if it's going worse or even better.

I also scrapbooked some birthcards for my colleges and the one for my cousin I'll do now, I didn't scrap for ages!!!(results:below)

Ok that is not completely true, in Canada I did with my cousin Lynn a guestbook for the wedding of her sister and my cousin Judy(and her hubby).

I like the results, I didn't think it all up by myself.

My example is coming from the book "Scrapcards 1" but when you are busy you get inspiration and then the end result is different then the example.

But I'm happy and I hope they are too.

Hallo allemaal,

Vorige week vrijdag met H naar de dokter geweest.
Ze dacht dat het allemaal nog van de longontsteking kwam.
Ik heb echter het idee dat er wel meer achter kan zitten omdat ze voor de longontsteking ook al erg moe was.
Heb er op aangedrongen om toch een bloedtest te doen.
Je kunt je voorstellen dat H hier niet blij mee was maar ik ben blij dat ik het wel heb door gezet.
Gister kwam de uitslag, haar wittebloedlichaampjes zijn te hoog en dat betekent dat er ergens een ontsteking in het lichaam kan zijn.
De arts vermoed dat het haar oren zijn omdat haar ene oor erg rood was bij het lichaamelijke onderzoek, maar ja H heeft hier geen pijn aan en dus geen aktie.
Aangzien de huisarts niet goed in haar oren kan kijken(volgens de KNO-arts heeft ze moeilijke oren) heb ik een afspraak gemaakt bij de KNO-arts waar ze nog steeds onder contrôle staat.
De huisarts wil het nog een maand aankijken en dan opnieuw bloed laten prikken.
Als het bloed dan nog niet goed is zullen ze verder kijken.
Wat het anders nog kan zijn? Tja daar denk ik liever niet aan.
Voorlopig ga ik er maar vanuit dat het een infectie/ontsteking is.
De kinderen hebben hier nu een week vakantie en dus kan H even bijkomen.
Lekker op tijd op bed en kijken dat ze wat fitter wordt.
Ze vindt het zelf erg vervelend dat ze steeds zo moe is, ze speelt bijna met geen 1 meer na schooltijd gewoon omdat ze zo moe is.
Normaal is ze een energiek meisje, die buiten speelt alleen of met anderen, die geniet van school en sporten vind ze geweldig.
Ik hou jullie op de hoogte hoe het verder gaat.
Nu zal ik me verkleden en dan aan het werk.

Hello everybody,

Last week on Friday I have been to the doctor with H.
The doctor tought that the tireness etc. came from the pneumonia.
I think there is more, because before the pneumonia she was tired too.
I incist that they take a bloodtest.
H wasn't happy about that at all, but I'm so glad that I did.
Yesterday we get the result of the bloodtest, the white bloodcells in H blood were to high and that means that there could be a infection somewhere in her body.
The doctor thinks that it has to be her ear, at the physical exame she saw that her left ear was red inside, but it doesn't hurd so no treatment.
H still has goes to a ear specialist, so I made an appointment with him(2 March), just to see how her ear is doing and if it's an ear infection.
If it's not the ear they need to check other things.
In about a month we need to do another bloodtest again, we hope the blood will be good then but it isn't? They look further.
What else it could be? I rather not think about that.
The kids have a week of here, springbreak.
H can rest for a whole week, no sports and school.
On time to bed, 8pm and she even does it!!!
A half year back she wouldn't do it, she couldn't even fall a sleep at that time!!
I hope it helps so she is getting in a better condition.
H self doesn't like it at all, so tired all the time, she hates that.
Normal she is an active kid that likes to go to school, play with a friends, do the sport.
She still goes to the sports but playing after school is something she doesn't do lately.
I'll keep in tuch so you know how things are going over here.

Hoi allemaal,

De nieuwe baan bevalt me goed hoor.
De nieuwe auto kwam een week later maar dat geeft niet.
Voor de rest wordt dit een klein berichtje.
Hillie is vorige week zondagnacht ziek geworden verkouden, hoesten en koorts.
Woensdag was ze koorts vrij en vrijdag wilde ze graag naar school.
Ze was nog erg bleekjes maar ja ze was ook net ziek geweest.
Gister ging ze gewoon naar school en gisteravond rond 23.30u spuugde ze voor de eerste keer,
Zij is bij mij op bed gekomen en jelle op de hare.
Gelukkig maar want ze gaf nog 5x over, wat een nacht!!!
Vanmorgen kreeg ze ook nog diarree en koorts.
Het buikgriep virus schijnt te heersen maar ze is wel erg vaak ziek de laatste tijd, vanaf November t/m nu is dit de 4e keer.
Vrijdag zal ik met haar naar dokter gaan, ik zal jullie hier dan meer over vertellen.

Hello everybody,

I love my new job.
The new car came a week later but that was ok.
This is going to be a small message.
Hillie was getting sick last Sunday(Jan. 31) she had a cold, caugh and fever.
On wednesday the fever was gone, so she went to school on friday again.
She still was bleach but she was getting better from the cold.
Yesterday she went to school also and at 11.30pm she trow up for the first time, she slept with me and Jelle slept on her's.
Thanks for that because she trow up 5 more times, what a night!!!!
This morning she gets diaria and a little fever also.
I know that lots of people have it but she is sick lot's lately from November untill now this is the 4th time.
I'll go friday with her to the doctor, so you will hear some more later on!!!

De tijd vliegt / time is flying

Hallo allemaal,

Alweer een dikke week voorbij waarin veel gebeurt is.
Wederom een paar verjaardagen waavan ik 1 ben vergeten, erg hè? Ik vergeet nooit een verjaardag, 2 schoonzusjes zijn jarig en tussendoor nog een feestje van onze vriendenploeg waarin 5 vrienden het feestje gezamelijk hielden.

Ik was het weekend voor het laatst op de afdeling, na 16 jaar de afdeling verlaten was wel zwaar.
Ook de bewoners vonden het moeilijk maar ja het is gewoon voor mij beter.
Ik krijg nu in ieder geval wat meer tijd met de bewoners en bestaat het contact niet alleen uit maar wassen.
Nu kan ik ontbijten, koffie drinken en nog veel meer, met de bewoners.
Dat vind ik veel prettiger.
A.s. maandag is mijn eerste dag, ik heb er ontzettend veel zin in.
Maandag gebeuren er meer nieuwe dingen, zo hebben we van de week een andere auto gekocht en daar moet ik maandag voor het eerst in naar het werk.
Ook stop ik maandag met roken, ik probeer het nu met medicijnen op advies van de huisarts.
Ik heb het nl al eerder geprobeerd maar ik werd er gewoon ziek van en zweefde over de weg, deze medicijnen heffen de ontwennings verschijnselen wat op, we wachten het af!!!

Ik heb in Canada een kookboek gekregen van mijn tante, hierin hebben de tantes en nichten recepten geschreven die ze zelf erg lekker vinden.
Van de week heb ik het recept nanaimobars gemaakt, basis is chocolade en er tussen zit een soort pudding=>erg lekker!!!
Volgende keer gebruik ik wel wat minder suiker in de pudding maar ondanks dat was de smaak goed.
Maar ja zo'n recept is vaak groter dan de onze en dus vries ik ook maar wat in.
Chocolat chips cookies zijn de volgende en de butter tarts.
Alleen moet ik toch echt eerst Crisco vinden.
Crisco is een vegetable shortning(erg hard plantaardig vet, lijkt net op die blokken frituurvet, en dan zonder smaak.
Ik heb al heel wat winkels gehad waaronder de groothandel maar tot nu toe zonder resultaat.
Op het internet vond ik een verwijzing naar Jumbo, dus daar nog maar eens kijken en ik probeer het bij Albert Hein XL misschien dat zij het ook wel hebben.
Nu denk je wat is er mis met boter? Nou eigenlijk niks alleen bevat boter water en je proeft het en dat heeft Crisco niet.
Ik hou jullie op de hoogte van de Canadese lekkernijen tot de volgende keer.

Hi every one,

This was a week that was flying and in that week happened a lot.
Again a couple of birthdays and I forgot 1, isn't it bad!!! I never forget any, 2 of my sisters in law had there birthday and we have had a party with friends, 5 of them having their birthday in january so they celebrate it together.

Last Sunday was my last day on the unit and after 16 years it was tuff to say goodbuy.
For the people who live there it was tuff too, but it is bette for me.
I'm getting more time with the people so it's not only the contact that you have when you're washing.
No I eat breakfast with them, drink koffie and lots more and I like that.
Commin Monday would be my first day and I'm excited about it.
But on Monday there are more new things, we bought a new car and I have to drive with it for the firsttime to work.
Aslo I quit smoking, with help from medication, on doctors recipe.
I try it earlier but I was sick and it felt if I was flying all the time, with the help of the medication that shouldn't be happening.
We'll wait and see!!!!

In Canada my aunt gave my a recipe book, aunts and cousins put in their favorit recipe.
This week I made the recipe of the nanaimo bars, it is great!!
Next time I need to use less sugar in the filling but the taste was good!!!
But the recipe is lots bigger then Dutch recipes so I'm going to put some into the deepfreezer.
Chocolat chips cookies and butter tarts are the next one to make.
But first I need to find Crisco somewhere.
I have had a lot of stores even one like Crosco but no luck.
On the internet I found one name of a store who should be selling it and I'll try a XL store.
I'll keep you posted about the Canadian recipes, see you next time.
